The shopping in Indonesia is excellent, and there are loads of things to buy. That said, for the best value try to stick to things made in Indonesia - exports can be expensive. Don't forget to check out our bargaining sections - we have found that in tourist areas some items can be offered for 20 times as much as the vendors are willing to sell it for.
Don't buy anything you don't know about it, and don't spend a fortune, and you'll be able to laugh when you later found out you have spent over the odds - and you can comfort yourself with the thought that the sellers probably need the money much more than you do.
